Our services

Six ways we support a live show

storylinki designs, staffs and operates live production control rooms for television and streaming. Each service below can be booked on its own or combined, depending on whether you need a single operator, a fitted gallery or a full crew for the day.

  1. Multi-Camera Switching

Experienced vision mixers cut live shows across many camera angles with clean, well-timed transitions.

  2. Control Room Design

We plan and fit out broadcast control rooms, from desk layout and monitor walls to signal flow and comms.

  3. Live Streaming Production

End-to-end streaming productions with encoding, graphics and monitoring for online audiences.

  4. Concert and Festival Broadcast

Roaming crews and a mobile gallery bring stage performances to screens at concerts and festivals.

  5. Real-Time Video Operation

Playback, replay, graphics and routing operated live so every cue lands on time.

  6. Production Management

Producers and technical managers coordinate crews, schedules and rehearsals for television and streaming shows.

Tell us the venue, the number of cameras and the broadcast format, and we will suggest which services fit. Scope is agreed in conversation before anything is confirmed.

Multi-Camera Switching

  1. Script and shot plan review

Before the day, the vision mixer reads your running order and camera plan, noting musical cues, speaker changes and moments that need a wide shot or a tight close-up.

  2. Rehearsal cutting

We cut through rehearsals with your directors so everyone agrees how fast to move, when to hold a shot and how the programme should feel on screen.

  3. Live switching

During transmission the vision mixer follows talkback, takes cameras on cue and keeps transitions consistent, so the programme reads as one steady piece rather than a series of jumps.

  4. Handover and notes

After the show we share short notes on what worked, which cameras were most used and anything worth adjusting for the next broadcast or the next night of a run.

How it works

From first call to live transmission

Every job starts with a conversation about what you want viewers to see. From there we move through planning, rehearsal and the live show, with the same people involved at each stage.

  1. Initial conversation

You tell us about the show, the venue and the audience. We ask about cameras, graphics, playback and delivery, and note anything that could affect the plan.

  2. Scope and plan

We outline the crew, equipment and signal flow needed, then agree the scope with you in writing. Questions are welcome at this stage, before commitments are made.

  3. Preparation

Our engineer builds the routing, comms and monitoring, and the crew reviews your running order. Anything unclear is raised with your producer well ahead of the day.

  4. Rehearsal

We run through the show with your team, test every cue and adjust timings. This is where graphics, replays and camera moves are checked against the plan.

  5. Live delivery

The crew operates the gallery throughout transmission, staying in contact with your producer. Afterwards we review the show together and note what to keep for next time.

Frequently asked questions

These are the questions producers and organisers ask us most often before a first job. If yours is not here, the contact page is the quickest way to reach us.

Can I book just a vision mixer rather than a full crew?

Yes. Many clients bring us in for a single role, such as a vision mixer or a real-time video operator, and use their own crew for the rest. We will ask about your existing setup so the operator can fit in with your equipment, your talkback system and the way your director likes to work.

Do you work with both television and streaming productions?

We do. The control room work is much the same, with live switching, graphics, playback and monitoring, but the delivery differs. For television we match the broadcaster's requirements, and for streaming our producer also handles encoding and the final feed to the online platform you have chosen.

Can you design a control room for a venue we already own?

Yes. We look at the space, your equipment and the kind of shows you run, then propose a desk layout, monitor wall, signal flow and comms. You decide how much we build ourselves and how much your own team installs.

How early should we contact you before an event?

As early as you reasonably can. Larger shows, especially festivals with outdoor stages, need time for site visits and planning. For smaller studio or streaming jobs a shorter conversation can be enough, though we cannot promise availability until we have spoken.

Do you bring your own equipment?

It depends on the job. For festivals and concerts we can bring a mobile gallery with a roaming crew. For studio work we often operate your existing equipment. We confirm exactly what is supplied by whom in the agreed scope.

What happens if something fails during a live show?

Our engineer builds the signal routing and monitoring so faults are spotted quickly, and the crew rehearses what to do when a source drops. We plan fallback options with you beforehand, so a problem becomes a short, managed change rather than a surprise.

Can you travel outside Dorchester?

Yes, our crews work at venues and studios beyond Dorchester. Travel and accommodation are discussed as part of the scope, so you see the full picture before agreeing anything and can plan your own budget accordingly.

Will you work with our own director and producer?

Always. We take direction from your team and do not impose our own style. Our crew adapts to your running order, your talkback habits and your preferences for pace, and we stay in contact with your producer throughout rehearsal and transmission.
