The scenes behind a live broadcast

These scenes show the settings and tools our crews work with day to day. Each one is a part of the process, from the monitor wall to the outdoor stage.

  1. Monitor wall in a fitted gallery

Monitor wall in a fitted gallery

A wall of preview and programme monitors lets the director and vision mixer see every camera at once. We plan the layout so the key sources sit at natural eye level.

  2. Vision mixer cutting a concert

The vision mixer follows the music and the director's calls, taking cameras on the beat or holding a wide shot while the stage lighting changes.

  3. Mobile gallery at a festival

For outdoor events a compact mobile gallery sits close to the stage, with cabling run to camera positions across the site and power planned in advance.

  4. Replay and graphics operation

    Replay and graphics operation

Replay and graphics operators cue clips, lower thirds and titles from a server, working to the running order so every cue arrives exactly when the director calls it.

  5. Streaming desk with encoder

    Streaming desk with encoder

A streaming setup brings the programme feed into an encoder, with graphics and audio checked on a separate monitor before the signal leaves for the online audience.

  6. Producer on talkback in rehearsal

Rehearsals give the producer time to run cues over talkback, confirm timings with every operator and settle questions before the first minute of transmission.

Concert and Festival Broadcast

  1. Site visit and camera plan

We visit the venue or review plans, decide where cameras go, and check sightlines, power and cable routes so nothing interferes with the audience or the stage.

  2. Mobile gallery setup

The gallery is placed near the stage with routing, comms and monitoring built by our engineer. We test every camera feed before doors open.

  3. Roaming camera crew

Camera operators move between stage, crowd and backstage areas under direction from the gallery, following the running order and any changes called over talkback.

  4. Delivery to screens

The programme feed goes to venue screens, a broadcaster or a streaming platform, depending on your plan. We confirm the route and format with you in advance.
