How we work

Working habits that keep a live show steady

Live production leaves little room for improvisation, so the team relies on habits built over many shows. These are the practices that shape how we prepare, communicate and handle the unexpected.

Preparation first

Most of the work happens before transmission. We read the running order, agree cues with your producer and build the routing and comms well in advance. Rehearsal is treated as part of the job, not an extra, because it is where timings, camera moves and graphics are tested. By the time the show goes live, each person knows what they are responsible for and who to call on talkback.

Clear talkback

In the gallery, short and precise language matters. We agree a simple vocabulary with your director so calls are quick and nobody has to guess. Operators confirm cues rather than assume them, and problems are reported calmly and early. This keeps the room quiet and focused, even when the show moves fast or a plan changes at the last minute.

Calm when plans change

Live shows rarely run exactly to script. Acts overrun, speakers move and equipment misbehaves. Our engineer builds monitoring that shows faults quickly, and the crew rehearses fallback options with you beforehand. When something shifts, the response is measured and agreed, so viewers see a steady programme and your team keeps control of the event.
