Live shows cut cleanly, cue after cue
A control room team from Dorchester
storylinki was founded in 2014 to run live production with a calm, methodical approach. We staff and operate galleries for concerts, festivals and studio broadcasts. Our crews handle switching, playback, graphics and the daily management of each show.
About UsProductions that depend on a steady gallery
Our work suits anyone who needs a live show to run without surprises. Some clients bring a finished format and want a crew to operate it. Others need a control room planned from the first drawing. We adapt the team and equipment to the production in front of us.
Television producers
Teams making studio and location programmes who need experienced vision mixers, technical management and a gallery that holds together through rehearsal and transmission.
Event organisers
Organisers of concerts and festivals who want stage performances carried to screens and online audiences, with a roaming crew and a mobile gallery.
Streaming teams
Online production groups that need encoding, graphics and monitoring handled together, with a producer who manages the show from planning to the final live feed.
Venues and theatres
Venues adding live broadcast capability who need a control room designed, fitted out and wired with sensible signal flow, comms and monitoring.
Corporate and conference hosts
Hosts of large conferences and presentations who need playback, graphics and routing operated live, so every cue and speaker change lands on time.
Broadcast departments
In-house teams that need extra crew, cover for a busy schedule or a second pair of hands on switching and real-time video operation.
How we approach every show
-
Calm under pressure
Live work rarely goes exactly to plan. Our crews stay level when a camera drops or a cue moves, make decisions quietly and keep the programme flowing for the audience.
-
Clear communication
Talkback is kept short and exact. We brief the crew before rehearsal, confirm cues aloud and make sure producers always know what is on air and what is next.
-
Reliable delivery
We plan signal paths, backups and schedules ahead of time. When transmission starts, the gallery is tested, the crew is prepared and the show goes out as agreed.
Six services built around the live gallery
From cutting a multi-camera concert to fitting out a new control room, our services cover the full chain of live production. Each can be booked on its own or combined into one crew. Details of every service sit on the services page.
Multi-Camera Switching
Experienced vision mixers cut live shows across many camera angles with clean, well-timed transitions.
Control Room Design
We plan and fit out broadcast control rooms, from desk layout and monitor walls to signal flow and comms.
Live Streaming Production
End-to-end streaming productions with encoding, graphics and monitoring for online audiences.
Concert and Festival Broadcast
Roaming crews and a mobile gallery bring stage performances to screens at concerts and festivals.
Real-Time Video Operation
Playback, replay, graphics and routing operated live so every cue lands on time.
Production Management
Producers and technical managers coordinate crews, schedules and rehearsals for television and streaming shows.
Tell us the format, venue and transmission date, and we will outline the crew and kit that fit. Scope is agreed together before anything is confirmed.
ServicesWhat a well run control room gives you
A control room is where a show is won or lost. These are the practical benefits our clients notice when the gallery is planned and staffed properly from the start.
-
Clean, timed transitions
Experienced vision mixers cut across many angles with transitions that follow the music or the speaker, so the programme feels deliberate rather than rushed.
-
Signal flow you can trust
Routing, comms and monitoring are planned and checked before doors open, which keeps faults small and easy to trace if something changes mid show.
-
One crew, one plan
Producers, engineers and operators work from the same running order and rehearsal notes, so decisions are made once and passed on clearly.
From first call to the final live feed
Every production follows a similar rhythm, however large or small. We scope the show, prepare the gallery, rehearse with the crew and then run transmission with a clear handover afterwards.
Planning the show
We start by understanding the format, the number of cameras, the venue and the audience. From there we draft a running order, list the equipment and decide which roles the crew needs. Where a control room has to be built or adapted, we plan the desk layout, monitor wall and signal flow at this stage. Anything unclear is raised early, while it is still easy to change.
Rehearsal and checks
Before transmission we test every source, route and communication path. Vision mixers learn the shot calls, operators run playback and graphics cues, and engineers confirm monitoring and backups. Rehearsal is where timing is set and small problems are found. We note changes in writing so that the whole crew works from the same plan.
Live and afterwards
On air, the producer leads and the gallery follows the running order, with short, clear talkback throughout. Operators handle switching, replay, graphics and routing in real time. When the show ends we strike the kit, confirm what was delivered and pass on any notes that will help the next production run even more smoothly.
